The default language when loading back a file with an unknown language association is "Normal Text". We could try a bit harder and guess the type from the file extension.

Repro steps:

  • Make sure you have at least one user-defined language usable (e.g. AHK).
  • Open N++.
  • Open a file of a know type for which we have "native" support (e.g. an ini file)
  • Set the language type of the file to a user defined type.
  • Close N++
  • For the purpose of this example, rename your userDefineLang.xml to something else (e.g. blah.txt)
  • Open N++

You will notice that your ini file now has "Normal Text" as language type, while MS INI file could easily be guessed by the file extension.
